Description
Melampodium (Melampodium leucanthum) is prized for its nonstop clusters of golden, daisy-style flowers atop tidy mounds of green foliage. It flourishes in full sun, handling Florida’s high temperatures and sandy soils with ease. Plant in well-drained beds or containers, water sparingly once established, and avoid over-fertilizing (too much nitrogen can reduce bloom count). Simply deadhead faded blooms to keep the display fresh. Design tip: install en masse along walkways or as a sunny border for a cheerful, pollinator-friendly carpet of yellow.
