Description
Lobelia (Lobelia erinus) forms low, mounding mats of delicate, tubular flowers in vibrant blues, pure white or soft lavender. It prefers morning sun or part-shade in Florida, with consistently moist—but never waterlogged—soil. Pinch back stems lightly after heavy bloom to encourage fresh growth. Regular deadheading keeps the display tidy and prolongs flowering. Design tip: plant Lobelia at the front of mixed containers or in hanging baskets, where its trailing habit creates a soft, cooling contrast against bolder annuals.
