Description
Gomphrena (Gomphrena globosa), commonly known as globe amaranth, dazzles with its tightly packed, clover-like flower heads in vibrant purple, pink and white. These long-lasting blooms maintain their shape and color—even when dried—making them perfect for both fresh and dried arrangements. In Florida’s sunny climate, plant Gomphrena in full sun with well-drained soil; once established, it tolerates heat and only needs moderate water. Deadhead spent flowers to encourage nonstop color from spring through fall. Design tip: tuck Gomphrena into mixed containers alongside trailing calibrachoa for a lush, textural contrast or use it en masse as a low border for uninterrupted waves of color.
