Description

Zonal Geranium (Pelargonium × hortorum) lives up to its name with tight umbels of cheerful flowers in pink, red, white or bi-tones set against scalloped, fragrant leaves. In Florida, choose a spot with full sun to light afternoon shade and plant in rich, well-drained soil amended with organic matter. Allow the top layer of soil to dry between waterings, and deadhead spent blooms to encourage new clusters. Feed monthly with a balanced fertilizer for sustained color. Geraniums excel in containers, window boxes and border edging—pair them with lobelia or sweet potato vine for contrast in texture and form.
