Description
Gazania (Gazania rigens) offers striking daisy-like flowers in vibrant shades of gold, orange, red and bi-colors that unfurl only in bright sunlight, closing at dusk. Ideally suited to Florida’s full-sun, sandy sites, it flourishes in lean, well-drained soil and becomes more drought-tolerant once established. Water sparingly—too much moisture can lead to leggy growth—and remove faded blooms to maintain a tidy appearance and promote nonstop flowering. Its low, spreading habit makes gazania an excellent choice for rock gardens, sunny borders or groundcover. Combine with succulents or silver-foliaged dusty miller to highlight its warm, glowing palette.
