Description

Foxglove (Digitalis purpurea) produces impressive spires of tubular, bell-shaped flowers in soft pinks, deep purples or pristine white atop tall stalks, bringing vertical drama to annual beds. In Florida, plant in part shade to protect blooms from the hottest afternoon sun, in well-drained, humus-rich soil. Keep soil evenly moist and deadhead spent flowers to encourage fresh spikes. Position at the back of borders or in mixed containers alongside hostas and ferns for a charming cottage-garden vibe that also attracts hummingbirds and bees.
