Description
Celosia (Celosia cristata and C. plumosa) dazzles with its sculptural, plume- or cockscomb-shaped flower heads in fiery reds, oranges, pinks, and yellows atop sturdy stems. In Florida, it performs best in full sun and warm temperatures (above 70°F) in well-drained soil. Water regularly but allow the topsoil to dry slightly between waterings to prevent root rot. Feed monthly with a balanced fertilizer to sustain prolific blooms. Use celosia as a dramatic focal point in sunny beds or tuck it into mixed containers alongside petunias and ornamental grasses for a striking contrast of form and texture.
